Details about the update to provide support for
the DTS:X audio format
Support for the DTS:X audio format will be provided through firmware updates for this unit. The precise
positioning of sounds and the ability to express movement is provided by the playback of DTS:X content
due to a combination of the mixing methodology based on past channel-based formats (5.1ch and 7.1ch)
and object-based dynamic audio mixing. Furthermore, it also supports DTS Neural:X which expands the
playback signal to multiple channels to suit the connected speaker configuration when playing sources
other than DTS:X content.

DTS:X content is required to play DTS:X. You can play DTS:X by connecting almost any Blu-ray disk
player to this unit with an HDMI cable and playing a Blu-ray disk that has used DTS:X. Audio output needs
to be set to bitstream output on the player.
7.2.4 channel surround (Front High, Rear High) connection
Along with past speaker systems, you can also use the following system.
Speaker layout/Usage pattern
A 7.2.4 ch surround system connects the left and right front speakers (L/R), the center speaker (C), the
left and right front high speakers (FHL/FHR), the left and right rear high speakers (RHL/RHR), the left and
right surround speakers (SL/SR), the left and right surround back speakers (SBL/SBR), the subwoofers
(SW1/SW2)
0 Dolby Enabled Speakers cannot be used in this speaker system.
0 You can play all Dolby series audio formats, not just DTS:X.
Installing your speaker system
0 Select [7.2.4ch FH,RH] from the [Speaker System] menu.
0 Surround back is output from the PRE OUT EXTRA 2 terminals of the receiver. Connect the EXTRA 2
terminal to the external amplifier, and connect the external amplifier to the surround back speaker.
